TAR orders student to retake high school oral exam

The Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has ruled in favor of a student from the Enrico Mattei Institute in Recanati, ordering that his oral examination be retaken. The student had failed his final high school exams (Maturità) by a margin of only 0.56 points.

The failure was largely attributed to an oral exam score of 6 out of 20. While the student had previously been flagged for having an active cellphone in his backpack during a written test, the court focused on the discrepancy between his oral grade and his academic history. The judges noted that the student had maintained a 7.82 average in his final term and had been admitted to the exam unanimously, suggesting that the extremely low oral score was not sufficiently justified by his demonstrated competencies.
