Tara Armstrong recall campaign postponed to gather resources
Organizers of a campaign to recall Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream MLA Tara Armstrong have announced a postponement of the effort to focus on gathering necessary funds and volunteers.
To successfully remove the Independent MLA from office, the recall petition must secure signatures from at least 40 per cent of eligible voters, which equates to over 18,000 signatures. The campaign is currently aiming for a target of 20,000 signatures to account for potential audits and invalid entries.
John Plant, the campaign’s advertising sponsor, stated that the petition is not imminent, noting that the group wants to ensure they have sufficient resources to be successful before launching. The process requires submitting complex paperwork to Elections BC, which then triggers a 60-day window for signature collection once approved.
