Tara Armstrong recall campaign seeks to increase scrutiny of MLA
Campaigners behind a paused recall petition for Tara Armstrong, the MLA for Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream, are seeking to increase scrutiny of her political actions. The Recall Tara Armstrong Campaign released an open letter accusing Armstrong of failing to address key constituent issues such as housing, affordability, and healthcare.
The group alleges that Armstrong’s legislative record has not resulted in successful laws and criticizes her for leaving the party that elected her to engage in divisive politics. Specific criticisms include her role in repealing the Speculation and Vacancy Tax and weakening rental protections.
The formal recall effort was paused in August as organizers work to secure the necessary funding and volunteers. To succeed under Elections BC regulations, the petition must collect signatures from more than 40 per cent of registered voters in the riding, which would require approximately 18,000 signatures in Armstrong’s case.
