Taraku Mills begins test production in Benue State

Taraku Mills Oil Limited in Benue State has commenced the first phase of test production following extensive rehabilitation of the facility. The company recently took delivery of 300 tonnes of soybeans to support the process.

This initiative is part of an agro-industrial revival effort led by the Benue State Government under Governor Hyacinth Alia. Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, Group Managing Director of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC), stated that the goal is to restore the production of Golden Soya Oil and strengthen the state’s agricultural value chain.

The revitalization aims to address high unemployment rates and provide local soybean and grain farmers with reliable market access. Dr. Asemakaha noted that the project is intended to create both direct and indirect jobs, particularly for the large number of recent graduates from the state’s tertiary institutions.
