Spain transport and infrastructure updates: rail, bus, and urban mobility changes
Various regional transport and infrastructure updates are being implemented across Spain. In Extremadura, Renfe will restore full rail service for two daily trains between Plasencia/Cáceres and Sevilla starting September 6, though two other Madrid-Mérida-Sevilla services will continue using road transfers due to freight traffic increases.
In Madrid, traffic flow on Calle de Alcalá will improve as a new lane per direction is reopened between Cibeles and Puerta de Alcalá, establishing the permanent configuration for the new boulevard. Meanwhile, the Tarancón-Madrid bus line (352) will increase frequencies starting September 1 to meet rising demand.
Other municipal developments include Toledo initiating a new public urban transport contract after nearly a decade and Córdoba's CoopMorteros integrating its first 100% electric vehicle into its urban fleet for measurement tasks. In Córdoba, the Hacemos Córdoba group has called for improvements to peripheral fairgrounds to make them year-round community spaces.
