Taranto advances plans for underground parking project

The Taranto municipal government, led by Mayor Piero Bitetti, has declared public interest in a proposal to construct a new underground parking facility in the Borgo district. The project aims to address long-standing parking shortages in the city center, specifically targeting the urban area between Piazza Garibaldi and Piazza Archita.

Four companies—Macob srl, Innovation Green Group srl, Impresa Del Fiume srl, and Green 2030 srl—have submitted preliminary expressions of interest. The development will proceed via project financing under public-private partnership regulations. Following this initial stage, the companies must submit formal proposals, which will then be published for a 60-day period to allow other economic operators to submit alternative bids. The municipality will subsequently have 45 days to select a proposal for tender.
