Taranto-Grottaglie Airport launches first cargo flight to Istanbul
The Taranto-Grottaglie Airport has launched its first cargo flight to Istanbul, establishing a new logistics connection for businesses in Southern Italy. This initiative, a collaboration between Poste Air Cargo and Turkish Cargo, aims to strengthen the ability of Puglian companies to reach international markets quickly.
Utilizing a Boeing 737F from the Poste Air Cargo fleet, the service is specifically designed to support the regional agrifood industry. By using Istanbul as a major international hub, goods from Puglia can access a network of over 300 destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Northern Europe, and North America.
This new route allows local enterprises to reduce costs and transit times by eliminating the need to transport goods by road to other major Italian or European cargo airports before international shipment. Puglia Region President Antonio Decaro noted that the investment serves as vital support for productive realities, particularly in reducing costs and maintaining product quality during periods of geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
