Taranto police accident sparks union calls for shift reforms
An accident involving three local police officers in Taranto has prompted the Cisl FP union to demand an immediate review of night shift organization and worker safety. Preliminary information suggests the incident may have occurred at the end of a night shift and could have been caused by fatigue.
The union is calling for the elimination of night shifts, citing excessive workloads, staff shortages, and insufficient recovery times. Cisl FP secretary Fabio Ligonzo noted that these issues have been raised previously, particularly regarding the impact of increased service demands during the Mediterranean Games.
