Taranto residents and businesses protest BRT construction disruptions

Consumer organizations Adiconsum, Adoc, and Federconsumatori are calling on the Taranto municipal administration to establish a formal dialogue with merchants and trade associations. The groups are responding to significant disruptions caused by construction sites for new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines.

While the organizations acknowledge the strategic value of the public transport project, they are contesting the management of its impact on daily city life. Key issues include drastic reductions in available parking, sudden changes to traffic routes, and uncertainty regarding future road layouts.

Specific concerns have been raised regarding the protection of reserved parking spaces for people with disabilities and parents with young children. The organizations are demanding organic, shared programming rather than isolated interventions to ensure accessibility and the continuity of local economic activities.
