Tarapacá drives record environmental project approvals in Chile

Chile's Environmental Evaluation Service (SEA) reported a record USD$ 19.514 billion in approved projects during the third quarter of 2026. The Tarapacá Region played a central role in this milestone through several large-scale initiatives.

Key developments in Tarapacá include the environmental approval for the operational continuity of Compañía Minera Punta de Lobos through 2040, ensuring long-term production and job stability. Additionally, the approval of the Soledad Iodine Production Plant expansion is expected to strengthen the region's position in the global iodine export market. The energy sector also remains a significant driver, with new solar park projects contributing to the regional investment totals.
