Tarapacá Region advances Regional Bioeconomy Strategy

The Tarapacá Region is advancing the development of a Regional Bioeconomy Strategy through specialized technical workshops. The first sectorial workshop focused on bioeconomy and agriculture, gathering representatives from public institutions, academia, private companies, and the agricultural sector to validate prioritized themes and gather regional input.

The initiative is being executed by the Curauma Biotechnology Nucleus of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and is funded by the Tarapacá Regional Government via the Regional Fund for Productivity and Development (FRPD). During the event, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) presented on the current state of bioeconomy in Latin America, highlighting its potential for the sustainable transformation of agricultural systems and the promotion of innovative use of biological resources.
