Tarapacá Region connects Peruvian and Chilean operators to boost tourism
The Tarapacá Region has initiated efforts to connect tourism operators from Peru and northern Chile to stimulate new business opportunities. Through an international familiarization trip held from September 23 to 26, fourteen operators from Tacna, Moquegua, and Arica y Parinacota explored various attractions and services within the region.
Supported by the Chile-Peru Integration and Border Committee and the Regional Government’s Investment Attraction Unit, the program included visits to Iquique and the Tamarugal province. Activities focused on heritage, gastronomy, nature, and special interest tourism, including wine tastings in the Pica Oasis, Andean gastronomy, astrotourism, and visits to the Humberstone saltpeter works and Salar del Huasco.
A business meeting held at ZOFRI allowed visiting operators to establish contacts with local companies and entrepreneurs, aiming to project future commercial connections and regional tourism growth.
