Taras Teatro Festival to host performances in Taranto

The fourth edition of the Taras Teatro Festival, themed ‘Scena antica e visioni contemporanee’ (Ancient scenes and contemporary visions), will take place in Taranto from September 12 to October 16. The festival is centered around the concept of freedom, inspired by the words of Piero Calamandrei.

The program features ten shows across thirteen performances, including five national premieres. Notable productions include ‘Antigone atto terzo’ by Valeria Cimaglia and ‘Prometeo a Taranto. La fabbrica illuminata’ by German director Joscha Zmarzlik, which connects Promethean myth with the city’s industrial history. Other featured artists include Ottavia Piccolo, Anna Ferruzzo, and Massimo Wertmüller.

Events will be held at various venues, including Teatro TaTÀ, Teatro Comunale Fusco, the Museo Diocesano cloister, and MArTA. Artistic director Massimo Cimaglia stated that the festival aims to respond to the cultural desires of the city and region with ‘an ethics and a soul’.
