Tarauacá students face class suspensions due to transport strike
Students at the Arivan Carneiro Prado School in rural Tarauacá have reported a three-week suspension of classes due to a strike by river boat operators. The transport workers halted services because of delayed payments.
A student representing 55 affected pupils stated that the lack of fluvial transport prevents them from reaching the school and noted that this is a recurring issue that harms both students and the livelihoods of the transporters.
The State Secretariat of Education (SEE) responded by stating that the only pending payment relates to July and remains within contractual deadlines. The department confirmed that the corresponding invoice has been verified and payment to the responsible company is scheduled for Friday.
