Tarek Rasouli returns to mountain bike trails after 24 years

Tarek Rasouli, a pioneer of freeride mountain biking, has returned to riding bike park trails 24 years after sustaining a spinal cord injury. The German athlete, who was a prominent figure in the Whistler Bike Park scene in the early 2000s, suffered a severe accident in 2002 at Sun Peaks.

While Rasouli remained active in the mountain bike industry as an event organizer and through his marketing agency, Rasolution, riding actual bike park trails had long seemed unattainable. His comeback was facilitated by a collaboration between Bosch eBike Systems and Bowhead Bikes.

During the Crankworx Whistler event, Rasouli was provided with the second-generation Bowhead RX, a three-wheeled, fully suspended handcycle powered by a Bosch motor. Accompanied by former downhill racer Gustavo ‘Guga’ Ortiz, Rasouli began riding at the Whistler Mountain Bike Park, starting in the Joyride Skill Area before tackling the Crank It Up trail.
