Prime Minister Tareq Rahman has departed Dhaka for New York to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. Leading a 35-member delegation, the Prime Minister is scheduled to deliver a speech in Bengali on September 24.

The address is expected to cover critical issues including Bangladesh's democratic progress, the rule of law, climate change, sustainable development, and the Rohingya crisis. This visit marks the first participation of the current government at the highest global UN forum.

During the trip, which concludes on September 25, the Prime Minister will attend high-level meetings and engage in bilateral discussions with various heads of state and international organization leaders. Notably, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman will also serve as the President of this session of the General Assembly. This appearance also marks the third time a member of the Zia family has addressed the UN General Assembly, following Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia.
