TARI waste tax regulations and new relief measures in Gavorrano
In Italy, the TARI waste tax applies to spaces such as cellars and garages based on their susceptibility to producing urban waste, regardless of actual usage or the volume of waste generated. Under Law n. 147/2013, even infrequently used spaces are subject to the tax because they are theoretically capable of producing refuse. Exceptions are generally limited to non-operational uncovered areas and common condominium parts not under exclusive use.
In the municipality of Gavorrano, the City Council has unanimously approved a new TARI regulation introducing two specific tax relief measures. The first provides deductions for household composition, allowing for a reduction in the fixed portion of the tax for families caring for elderly residents in nursing homes or individuals with severe disabilities. The second measure offers reductions for citizens who practice organic waste composting, aiming to reward environmentally virtuous behavior.
