Tarija authorities expand citizen security council and resource plans

Authorities and community leaders in Tarija are coordinating efforts to strengthen citizen security through new institutional partnerships and resource management. During the second session of the Citizen Security Council, Mayor Johnny Torres Terzo announced the inclusion of Volunteer Firefighters, the Risk Management Unit (UGR), and the Prosecutor's Office to complement existing safety plans.

The municipality is also exploring the acquisition of a dedicated building for the Prosecutor's Office to specifically serve minors and vulnerable populations. Meanwhile, the Departmental Police Commander, Heriberto Carlos Valencia Colque, provided reports on ongoing special operations aimed at establishing Tarija as a secure city.

Addressing human resource shortages, the Departmental Federation of Neighborhood Councils (Fedjuve) has proposed that personnel from the Basic Police School (Esbapol) remain stationed in the department for two years to bolster local security capacity. Fedjuve President Ronald Garnica emphasized that increasing human resources is critical to meeting the department's security needs.
