Tarija budget deadline extended to September 11

The Ministry of Economy and Finance has extended the deadline for submitting the 2027 Annual Operating Plan (POA) to September 11, moving it from the original deadline of September 7.

In Tarija, Luis Fernando Romero, the Secretary of Planning and Finance for the department, stated that the POA 2027 will be submitted to the Tarija Departmental Legislative Assembly (ALDT) by this Monday or Tuesday at the latest. Romero addressed recent criticisms regarding delays, explaining that the process has been hindered because the Assembly has not yet presented its own approved 2027 budget draft.

Romero emphasized the importance of receiving an approved draft from the Assembly to ensure the global POA remains legally sound and to prevent future legislative objections. The budgetary ceiling for 2027 is estimated to exceed approximately 590 million bolivianos, though exact figures are pending the finalization of the Assembly's budget submission.
