Tarija tourism mission promotes regional integration amid connectivity concerns

The international tourism business missionTarija Conecta’ recently concluded in Tarija, Bolivia, aiming to strengthen regional integration and commercial opportunities within the Andean and bioceanic tourism corridors. Organized by Link Andino Bioceánico, the event brought together tourism operators, travel agencies, and institutional representatives from Bolivia and Argentina, with significant participation from companies in the Argentine provinces of Jujuy and Salta.

While the mission focused on promoting enotourism, gastronomy, and cultural experiences, local authorities and the private sector are simultaneously calling for urgent improvements to regional infrastructure. The Tarija Government and the Federation of Private Entrepreneurs have issued a demand for the airline Boliviana de Aviación (BOA) to restore air connectivity. They report that reduced flight frequencies and high ticket prices are negatively impacting tourism, investment, and employment in the department.
