Leeds United leads race for Bosnia defender Tarik Muharemovic amid £34m bid

Leeds United have reportedly made a verbal contract offer to 23‑year‑old Bosnia and Herzegovina centre‑back Tarik Muharemovic, who currently plays for Serie A side Sassuolo. The club aims to replace departing left‑footed defender Pascal Struijk and sees Muharemovic as a long‑term solution.

Sassuolo are demanding around €40 million (about £34 million) for the transfer. Juventus, which retained a 50 percent sell‑on clause from an earlier deal, will receive half of any future fee. Leeds must compete with other Premier League suitors – Sunderland, Bournemouth and, according to some reports, Newcastle United – all of whom have shown interest.

The competition has intensified after Muharemovic’s strong displays at the World Cup. Negotiations are expected to continue through the summer transfer window, with an official offer from Leeds anticipated in the coming days.
