Tarik Skubal reportedly interested in re-signing with Dodgers
Major league pitcher Tarik Skubal has expressed interest in re-signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to former general manager Jim Bowden. Bowden suggests Skubal enjoyed his time with the organization, specifically noting the support from the front office, research and development department, and pitching staff.
However, securing Skubal may prove difficult due to potential contract demands and competition from other teams. Bowden estimates a contract for Skubal could range between $350 million and $500 million, potentially making him the highest-paid pitcher in baseball history by average annual value or total deal size.
Obstacles to a reunion include the influence of agent Scott Boras, who typically seeks maximum years and dollars for his clients, as well as potential aggressive offers from owners like Steve Cohen of the Mets or Stan Kroenke of the Angels. The Dodgers may prefer a high annual value, shorter-term structure similar to Kyle Tucker’s recent deal.
