Tarik Tombur Toba event aims to boost North Sumatra tourism

The inaugural Tarik Tombur Toba event was held at Atsari Beach in Parapat, Simalungun, North Sumatra, to revitalize local tourism. Organized by Bane Raja Manalu, a member of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), the event drew nearly 2,000 attendees.

The program featured a variety of cultural and recreational activities, including a fishing competition in Lake Toba, Tor-tor dance performances, and a sambal tombur cooking competition involving 30 groups from various districts in Simalungun. The event also included musical entertainment featuring North Sumatran musicians.

Manalu stated that the initiative was born from community aspirations to revive the tourism sector in the Lake Toba region, which he believes serves as an economic engine for the local population. He emphasized the importance of environmental and cultural preservation to ensure the lake remains a resource for future generations. The event received support from several entities, including the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Creative Economy.
