Tarn Taran: Husband of village sarpanch shot dead in Punjab

A 35-year-old man, identified as Navpreet Singh (also referred to as Navdeep Singh), was shot dead on a Friday night in the Gaggobua village of Punjab’s Tarn Taran district. The victim was the husband of Kulwinder Kaur, the Shiromani Akali Dal sarpanch of the village.

Reports indicate the shooting followed a heated verbal exchange between the victim and a local resident, Surinder Singh, also known as Sonu Kanda. Preliminary investigations by police suggest the incident may have been motivated by an old rivalry or personal enmity.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene. Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation and are working to gather eyewitness accounts and evidence. Security has been increased in the area to maintain calm and prevent further confrontation within the community.
