Tarnow plans redesign of solar‑system fountain amid prolonged repairs

The solar‑system themed fountain on Skwer Jerzego Popiełuszki in Tarnow, built in 2010 at a cost of 1 million PLN and designed by architect Artur Grodziński, has been out of service since the start of the season due to a serious pump failure. The malfunction was more extensive than initially thought, and the city’s vice‑president Maciej Włodek said the damaged pump will be replaced, but officials are also weighing a complete redesign or simplification of the installation. Public consultations are planned to decide the fountain’s future form, with the possibility of reverting to an earlier design that featured a central sculpture. The city’s other fountains, including one in Park Strzelecki, remain under repair, and it is unclear whether they will be operational before the end of the summer.
