Tarnów landslide threatens Vistula slope and local parking

A landslide occurring on a slope above the Vistula River in Tarnów has caused the closure of a nearby forest parking lot, creating difficulties for residents and tourists. During a Garwolin County Council session, officials discussed the status of stabilization efforts.

Wojciech Szczegot, head of Water Supervision in Garwolin, stated that while documentation for the project has been prepared at a cost of 7.8 million PLN, the investment is currently stalled. The Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection (RDOŚ) has extended the deadline for issuing a decision to October 30, requesting further clarifications regarding the nature of the environmental risks involved.

The project aims to install a protective retaining wall made of slabs to secure the slope, but officials must coordinate with the RDOŚ in Warsaw to resolve the current administrative impasse.
