Tarnów–Leluchów railway line celebrates 150th anniversary

The Tarnów–Leluchów railway line, popularly known as the ‘Kryniczanka’, is celebrating its 150th anniversary with a series of commemorative events in southern Poland. The festivities, organized by PKP PLK and local municipalities, are scheduled for the weekend of August 22–23, 2026.

Events include historical lectures, culinary stands at various stations, and special commemorative train rides. A highlight of the celebration is the use of the EN71-001, a 50-year-old electric multiple unit produced in 1976, known for its distinctive yellow and blue colors. On Saturday, August 22, special services will run between Nowy Sącz and Muszyna, stopping at stations such as Stary Sącz, Ryter, Piwniczna, and Żegiestów. On Sunday, August 23, trains will travel routes including Nowy Sącz–Stróże and Nowy Sącz–Marcinkowice, with stops in Grybow, Ptaszkowa, and Kamionka Wielka.

To facilitate travel during the jubilee, POLREGIO is offering special network tickets for the Beskid Sądecki region, allowing passengers to visit multiple stations and local attractions throughout the weekend.
