Tarom receives first Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft

Romanian state-owned airline Tarom has officially received its first Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. The new plane, registered as YR-BGO, arrived at Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport on the evening of September 8, 2026, following a delivery flight from the United States that included a stopover in Reykjavik, Iceland.

This delivery is part of a broader fleet modernization strategy intended to reduce operating costs and improve network efficiency. Tarom is currently undergoing a restructuring process to address long-standing financial challenges. The airline expects to receive a second Boeing 737 Max 8 shortly, with a total of eight additional units from the manufacturer currently on order.
