TAROM takes delivery of first Boeing 737 MAX in Seattle
TAROM, the Romanian flag carrier, has begun the delivery process for its first Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. The Boeing 737-8 is being collected by company crews from Boeing’s facilities in Seattle.
The aircraft will be transported to Romania via a special two-stage ferry flight, traveling from Seattle to Keflavik, Iceland, before completing the journey to Bucharest. This acquisition is a key component of TAROM’s fleet modernization program.
In a symbolic gesture, the new aircraft has been named ‘Mircea Lucescu’ in honor of the renowned Romanian football coach. The airline noted that the values associated with Lucescu’s career—performance, discipline, perseverance, and confidence—align with the goals of this new chapter for the company.
