Tarquinia hosts eighth Festival of Medieval Places
The eighth edition of the Festival dei Luoghi Medievali took place in Tarquinia on September 26 and 27. The event, promoted by DMO Luoghi del Medioevo ETS with support from ENIT SPA and the Istituto Centrale per il Patrimonio Immateriale, featured a historical procession from Palazzo Vitelleschi to commemorate the 1451 marriage of Sante Vitelleschi and Costanza degli Anguillara.
Delegations from various regions participated, including the Comune di Fermo and La Cavalcata dell’Assunta, alongside over 200 performers from groups such as the Associazione Sante Spine, the Ente Corsa all’Anello di Narni, and others. The festival also included an exhibition titled ‘Viaggio nell’Italia dei luoghi medievali’ located in the city's historic center.
On the second day, Tarquinia Mayor Francesco Sposetti presided over institutional meetings. A key moment was the reading of the ‘coniuratio civitatum’, a document establishing a Pact of Solidarity and Alliance among the participating municipalities to promote and safeguard their shared medieval heritage.
