Tarquinia: Palio dell'Anello joins Lazio Regional Register of Historical Reenactments

The municipality of Tarquinia has achieved a significant milestone as the Palio dell'Anello, a historical reenactment of the city's districts, has been officially inscribed in the Regional Register of Historical Reenactments of Lazio.

The recognition follows a rigorous qualitative selection process by the Regional Historical Committee, which praised the event for its scientific value, philological consistency, and organizational strength. The inclusion is based on extensive archival research, including 15th-century records and the 1545 municipal statutes, which link the festivities to the 1451 marriage of Sante Vitelleschi and Costanza degli Anguillara.

The modern reenactment features over 300 participants in period costumes, including knights, musicians, and archers, representing the 12 city districts in equestrian competitions.
