Tarragona approves new Gimnàstic-Arrabassada neighborhood development

The Camp de Tarragona territorial urbanism commission has granted final approval for the PMU-34 sector planning in Tarragona. This development will create a new neighborhood surrounding the current Gimnàstic de Tarragona sports facilities and a decommissioned section of the N-340 road.

The project includes the construction of 525 new homes, consisting of 314 market-rate units and 211 protected housing units, representing 40% of the total. This increase from the previous 30% target aligns with urban planning laws set for 2025. Additionally, the plan incorporates approximately 5,000 square meters of space for economic activity and services, along with new streets and green spaces to connect the area to the existing urban fabric.

Sílvia Paneque, the Counselor for Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition, expressed a positive assessment of the project, noting its compliance with current legislation and its focus on integrating new buildings with existing sports facilities.
