Tarragona authorities increase sanctions for incivility and illegal dumping

Authorities in Tarragona are intensifying efforts to combat incivility and illegal waste dumping. During the first seven months of 2026, the Guàrdia Urbana and the Department of Public Cleaning issued 65 sanctions. These included 56 infractions related to citizen coexistence and 9 violations regarding waste collection services, with some fines reaching up to 2,001 euros.

In a related incident regarding environmental protection, the Guàrdia Urbana evacuated bathers from the Rec Comtal de Vallbonades. Despite a strict ban on bathing in the area since August 2021 to preserve biodiversity and historic infrastructure, visitors continue to use the site, leading to complaints from local residents regarding noise and accumulated litter.
