Tarragona celebrates Santa Tecla and Xiquets centenary

The city of Tarragona is beginning its Santa Tecla festival celebrations with several significant cultural milestones. A major highlight is the centenary of the Xiquets de Tarragona, the city's human tower (casteller) group. An institutional ceremony to mark this hundred-year anniversary will take place this Saturday at 19:30 at the Teatre Tarragona, attended by Mayor Rubén Viñuales.

During the event, the group is expected to present its new anthem. The centenary commemorations have included various activities such as historical conferences, walks, and symbolic human tower displays. Additionally, the group is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its musical formation of grallers and timbalers with a concert at the Jardins de la Casa Canals.

Other festivities include the 175th anniversary of the Gegants Moros and various cultural exhibitions. Activities such as the Ball Parlat de la Sebastiana del Castillo and heritage night events are also scheduled as part of the broader festival program.
