Tarragona councilor Pep Manresa dies at 72
Josep "Pep" Manresa, a 72‑year‑old councilor for Junts per Catalunya in the Tarragona city council, died on Friday after a prolonged illness. He had served as the party’s municipal group leader since the 2023 local elections, where he was placed third on the Junts list. Manresa’s political career began with Convergència Democràtica de Catalunya and later included a term as president of the civic platform Ara Tarragona (2016‑2018). He also founded the real‑estate firm Nouàmbit Immobles in 1997.
The Tarragona municipal government declared two days of official mourning. Mayor Rubén Viñuales described Manresa as a “good friend and a person who loved Tarragona above all,” while Junts secretary general Jordi Turull called him a “civic, business and political reference for the city.” Numerous local politicians and community members expressed condolences, highlighting his long‑standing involvement in municipal affairs and his reputation for humility and dedication.
