Tarragona Electoral Board orders removal of independence flags

The Electoral Board has ordered several municipalities in the province of Tarragona to remove 'esteladas' (independence flags) from public buildings and common spaces within 24 hours. This directive follows complaints filed by the Coordinadora de la Resistencia Cívica, which argued that the presence of these flags violates institutional neutrality during the upcoming general elections scheduled for November 29.

Affected locations include Altafulla, L’Ametlla de Mar, Valls, Montblanc, El Catllar, Riudoms, Riudecanyes, and Amposta. In Altafulla, the local government has already begun the removal process.

As the November 29 elections approach, political parties in Tarragona have finalized their candidate lists. The PSC has nominated Ione Montalvo, manager of the Hospital Joan XXIII, while ERC will be led by Norma Pujol. The PP has introduced Mónica Landete as its candidate, and Junts will see Josep Maria Cruset returning to his previous position.
