Tarragona emergency calls rise 16% during summer

Emergency calls to the 112 service in the Tarragona region increased by 15.95% during the summer months of June, July, and August 2026. CAT112 managed a total of 105,374 calls, which is 14,498 more than the same period in 2025.

A significant driver of this increase was fire-related reports, which rose by 59.12% in the Tarragona demarcation, climbing from 1,316 calls in 2025 to 2,094 in 2026. Across Catalonia, fire-related calls saw a similar surge of 59.6%.

Operational calls requiring service activation rose by 10.1% compared to the previous summer. Natàlia Clop, head of operations for CAT112, noted that 96% of these requests were attended to in less than 10 seconds.
