Tarragona Extends Canine DNA Registry Deadline to September 30
The municipal canine DNA registration campaign launched on 15 February in Tarragona has been extended to 30 September to allow more owners to complete the process. Over the first five months, 1,815 applications were received and 1,612 registrations were finalized. The deadline extension keeps the fee at €40; the price will rise to €45 from October. Councilor for Animal Welfare Sandra Ramos said the goal is to achieve participation of 25‑30 % of the city’s dog population, prompting the extension. Registration is mandatory under the local ordinance, and non‑compliance may trigger penalties. The council is cooperating with the official veterinary college and local clinics to disseminate information and materials.
