Tarragona honors Gegants Moros and Negritos carriers

The Tarragona City Council has announced that the carriers of the ‘Gegants Moros’ and ‘Negritos’ giants will be named the ‘Perpetuadors de la Santa Tecla’ for the upcoming festivities. This designation is the city's highest festive recognition, honoring both current and past carriers.

Sandra Ramos, the Councilor for Culture, highlighted the deep historical connection of the group, noting that entire generations of local Gypsy families have demonstrated unconditional perseverance in carrying these representative pieces of the ‘Seguici Popular’. The official proclamation will take place during the traditional ‘La Crida’ ceremony, scheduled for September 15.

The upcoming Santa Tecla festival poster will also celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Gegants Moros, emphasizing the group's long-standing commitment to the local tradition.
