Tarragona hospital shooting targets Turkish organized crime figure

A man linked to Turkish organized crime was shot and killed in his hospital bed at Hospital Joan XXIII in Tarragona, Spain. The victim had been hospitalized following a previous shooting incident in Salou two weeks earlier, where he sustained leg wounds from a vehicle-based attack.

According to reports, the assailant entered the hospital wearing a helmet to conceal his identity. The attacker reportedly waited for the Mossos d’Esquadra police escort to withdraw before accessing the patient's room on the fifth floor. The shooting occurred in the presence of the victim's wife, inflicting several critical wounds that doctors were unable to treat.

The Criminal Investigations Division has launched an investigation into the incident, which authorities believe was a planned attack related to gang conflicts. The Catalan government has deployed psychological support teams to assist hospital staff following the event.
