Tarragona invests 80,000 euros in disability support projects

The Tarragona City Council has announced an investment of 80,000 euros to fund 17 projects aimed at improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. This initiative, part of the 2024-2026 Strategic Subsidy Plan, focuses on two main areas: personal autonomy and general interest activities. The funding for personal autonomy programs increased by 50%, while general interest funding rose by over 42%. In total, these actions are expected to benefit 2,661 residents across sectors including social assistance, health, culture, and inclusive leisure.

In a related development regarding inclusive activities, the city of Reus hosted the IV Inclusive Sports Day for All. The event coincided with the arrival of the Special Olympics torch, which traveled through the city streets to the Plaça de la Llibertat. The day featured adapted sports such as hand cycling, seated volleyball, and wheelchair basketball, aimed at increasing visibility for resources that facilitate physical activity for people with functional diversity. The Special Olympics Tarragona 2026 is scheduled to take place from October 9 to 12 at the Anella Mediterrània in Tarragona.
