Tarragona offers natural escapes through river pools and hiking routes

The Tarragona region offers diverse natural escapes for those seeking to avoid high temperatures. In the Terra Alta district, the municipality of Bot provides natural swimming pools formed by the Canaletes River. Notable spots include ‘Les Olles’, characterized by green and blue waters, and Fontcalda, which is accessible via the Terra Alta Green Way (Via Verda), a former railway line repurposed for pedestrians and cyclists.

In the Baix Camp area, the Avencs de la Febró offers a hiking route featuring significant geological formations. The circular path, starting near the Mussara refuge, includes a descent into natural sinkholes that reach depths of up to 30 meters. While the route is considered relatively easy, certain sections require caution due to slippery terrain and the use of chains for steep descents.
