Tarragona reserves 19 million euros for urban planning lawsuits

The Tarragona City Council has set aside approximately 19 million euros to address potential legal claims arising from urban planning disputes. Much of this financial contingency stems from a 2020 Supreme Court ruling that overturned the city's General Urban Development Plan (POUM), which disrupted previous development projections.

According to a municipal auditor's report, the total amount involved in various liability claims and administrative appeals is 19,171,143 euros. While these figures represent claims rather than finalized judgments, the city has classified them as financial contingencies due to their potential economic impact. One of the largest individual claims comes from Mas Maneguet SA, totaling over 7.8 million euros, regarding a project near the Costa Dorada golf course that was halted after the plan's approval.
