Tarsus launches public art project using local shop windows

The Mersin Metropolitan Municipality has launched the ‘Art Everywhere / Every Space a Gallery’ project in Tarsus. Managed by the Tarsus Council of Those Who Add Value (TADEKA), the initiative aims to integrate art into daily life by moving it from traditional galleries into the public sphere.

Under this project, local shopkeepers and business owners are turning their storefront windows and walls into open-air exhibition spaces. This allows citizens to encounter various artworks while walking through the streets or shopping. TADEKA member Lutfi Hasoğlu noted that the project, implemented in 2025, has received positive feedback from the public.

Artists who cannot find private venues can have their works placed in areas designated by the municipality. Interested participants, including artists and business owners, can apply via the Tarsus Festival website.
