Tartu participatory budget winners include stadium facility and path lighting

The results of Tartu’s participatory budgeting vote have been announced, with 4,650 residents casting a total of 11,666 votes. The top two winning proposals focus on urban infrastructure and accessibility.

The most popular idea, receiving 2,391 votes, involves lighting pedestrian paths to increase visibility for walkers, cyclists, and drivers during dark periods. The second most popular proposal, with 1,327 votes, is the construction of an accessible toilet building at Coop Stadium (formerly known as the Sepa football center).

JK Tammeka reported that their proposal for the stadium facility reached the top two, ensuring the project will be implemented with the support of the Tartu city government next year. The club aims to complete the construction by the start of the 2027 season, following the finalization of detailed construction projects and coordination with city officials.
