Taruga Minerals reports copper and gold results in Papua New Guinea
Taruga Minerals has announced significant exploration results from its Kol Mountain Copper-Gold Project located in East New Britain, Papua New Guinea. The company reported positive assay results from rock chip sampling at the Northern Agadul access corridor and the north-western margin of the main Agadul porphyry zone.
At the Northern Agadul access corridor, assays identified a porphyry-style copper-molybdenum signature, including 0.11% copper and 4.3ppm molybdenum. Samples from the north-western margin of the 4.8km Agadul Porphyry copper anomaly showed high-grade skarn float results of up to 2.33% copper, 9.4 g/t silver, and 0.22 g/t gold.
Field crews also accessed the high-grade gold zone at Agadul Shear. The company noted that historical drilling by Rio Tinto at this site previously yielded notable gold intercepts, such as 6 metres at 2.2 g/t gold. Taruga Minerals Chairman Paul Cronin stated that these initial assays confirm surface copper and a high-grade copper float skarn.
