TARURA improves road infrastructure in Dodoma

The Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) is continuing infrastructure improvements in Dodoma to create resilient roads and bridges capable of withstanding climate change impacts, such as El Niño rains.

During a project inspection, Dodoma District TARURA Manager Engineer Emmanuel Mfinanga highlighted several key developments. In the Ntyuka area, three 14-meter stone bridges were constructed for 398 million shillings, a cost-effective alternative to concrete that improves access for residents living behind the SGR railway line.

Additional works include the Ilazo–Mbuyuni road, where 759 million shillings has been allocated to pave 250 meters of road and construct 1.5 kilometers of drainage ditches to prevent rain damage. Furthermore, the 5.18-kilometer Nala–Viwandani road has been upgraded with tarmac, drainage systems, and street lighting to support economic activities by connecting industrial areas.
