Tarutung–Sipirok road access restored in South Tapanuli

Transportation access on the Tarutung–Sipirok–Padangsidimpuan route in Antur Mangan, South Tapanuli, North Sumatra, has been reopened following a road collapse. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 18, after heavy rainfall triggered a landslide at STA 14+150, causing a six-wheeled vehicle to fall into the subsided area.

Emergency repairs involved widening detour routes, backfilling and compacting materials, and installing steel plates reinforced with aggregate. These measures have allowed both small and large vehicles to traverse the route again. Heavy machinery, including excavators, vibro rollers, motor graders, and dump trucks, were deployed to facilitate the reopening.

Brigjen TNI Fadjar Tjahjono, head of the Tapsel Monitoring and Evaluation Team for the Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR), stated that while emergency access is restored, permanent repairs and regular monitoring are required to prevent future landslides. Future efforts will focus on constructing retaining walls reinforced with bore piles.
