Tasho Tashev nominated for Honorary Citizen of Dobrich

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tasho Tashev has been nominated for the title of ‘Honorary Citizen of Dobrich’ for 2026. The nomination was submitted by municipal councilor Kamelia Koycheva and stands as the sole proposal received by the August 31 deadline.

Dr. Tashev is recognized as a pioneer in emergency medicine and toxicology in Bulgaria. After graduating in Sofia in 1959, he began his career in Dobrich, where he established the foundations of the modern emergency medical assistance department in 1963. He is credited with developing a pioneering national system for emergency toxicological aid, which includes the implementation of antidotes and standardized protocols for poisoning management. His system was officially recognized as a national model in 1990.
