Tasmania Devils CEO downplays stadium delays for player recruitment

Tasmania Devils CEO Brendon Gale has stated that the absence of a completed stadium will not hinder the club's ability to recruit players for its upcoming AFL and AFLW debuts in 2028.

The $1.13 billion Macquarie Point Stadium in Hobart is not expected to be ready until the 2031 season. Consequently, the Devils plan to split their initial home games between Bellerive Oval in Hobart and UTAS Stadium in Launceston.

Gale emphasized that the club's 9,000-square-meter high-performance centre will provide an elite environment for athletes. The club is preparing to recruit marquee names, including the ability to sign 18 uncontracted players from rival clubs during the 2027-28 period.
